As the new European headquarters for Google, Bolands Quay was designed to reflect the company’s global leadership in innovation, sustainability, and workplace wellbeing. The development transformed a historic docklands site into a vibrant, future-focused environment that blends premium office space with public realm enhancements. In the wake of shifting global work patterns, the emphasis was on creating a workplace that inspires — one that prioritises flexibility, collaboration, and employee experience. Today, Bolands Quay stands as a landmark development in one of Dublin’s most dynamic neighbourhoods.
Sustainability was a key driver throughout the project, and Solutions delivered a suite of intelligent, future-ready systems that support environmental performance, user control, and long-term adaptability.
We supplied and commissioned IoT-enabled, DALI-2 lighting controls using advanced components from Delmatic, delivering real-time automation, daylight harvesting, occupancy-based response, and intelligent energy optimisation across the entire campus. The system utilises MQTT-based data communication for seamless integration with the building’s smart infrastructure — enabling centralised monitoring, advanced analytics, and responsive control across all user zones.
To support a flexible, people-first workplace, we supplied a complete underfloor-to-desk power system from CMD.
This solution provides a clean, unobtrusive way to deliver power exactly where it’s needed — without compromising the open, collaborative layout of the workspace. It allows for seamless reconfiguration of floorplans as team needs evolve, supporting everything from hot desking to breakout zones. By keeping power distribution modular and accessible, it also reduces material waste, installation time, and long-term maintenance overhead — all while contributing to the building’s overall energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
In parallel, we supplied a robust and adaptable KTS cable containment system from OBO Bettermann, tailored to the unique requirements of both the new-build towers and the restored heritage buildings. This ensured clean integration across all architectural and MEP interfaces, supporting the seamless delivery of electrical infrastructure throughout the campus.
Our work at Bolands Quay helped Google realise its vision for a smart, sustainable, and human-centred workplace — one that meets the highest global standards for energy efficiency, digital infrastructure, and employee wellbeing.
The smart building systems we delivered support Google’s commitment to 100% renewable energy and low-carbon operations, providing the tools to monitor, manage, and reduce energy use across the site. By enabling intuitive control over lighting and power, the building can respond in real time to occupancy patterns, natural light, and user preferences — reducing waste and enhancing the user experience.
In a world where office environments must now compete with the comfort of home, Bolands Quay offers a blueprint for the future — and we’re proud to have contributed to its success with technology that’s as intelligent as it is sustainable.
